A Day in DTLA

I’ve recently celebrated my 3-months living in Downtown LA.  Although I was born and raised in Los Angeles, Downtown is a much different place then when I grew up.  With the growth and revitalization of the city, one can find just as many hidden gems, as they will historically preserved landmarks. Downtown LA is a great destination to experience an afternoon of shopping, amazing food, and unique experiences.

Now that I live in the city center and walk daily, I find my perspective of the city constantly changing.  I partnered with the Downtown Center Business Improvement District to showcase some of my favorite places, along with newly discovered ones.  Artisanal work and heritage craftsmanship have a lot to do with our ever changing city; Please Do Not Enter is a unique and progressive men’s luxury retail space adjacent to Pershing Square.  Here, you can find perfectly curated accessories and artwork from the finest craftsmen around the globe.

Craft extends into the kitchen at Barrel Down conveniently located on the bustling intersection of 7th and Grand.  Along with the killer menu- hello fried chicken sandwich- there are over 40 taps of American craft beers, unique wines, and delicious cocktails.  If you’re looking for something new to try in Downtown, I would hit up Barrel Down for lunch, or grab some dinner with your crew. About a block away you’ll find one of the coolest clubs in town with an interior that’ll blow your mind.  The Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) has been operating since 1880 and is the epitome of class, timeless style, and encompasses all aspects of the modern man. The LAAC established a philosophy early on by which health of mind, body, and spirit flourish.  The twelve story building is equipped with phenomenal exercise facilities, billiards, cocktail lounges, hotel rooms, and a killer rooftop!

While we’re on the topic of heritage, Seven Grand, just down the street, is an all time favorite whiskey bar.  Though they offer much more than whiskey, it is definitely the stand out!  The insane bar is equipped with spirits for everyones taste, and especially those in need of a classic Old Fashioned.  I like to visit Seven Grand for a cigar and game of pool with my boys. The city is on the rise and I am so happy to be living here and witnessing it firsthand.
